Volunteers make many things happen. Thank you postcard writers… and canvassers, and people who cook dinners for volunteers, videographers, still photographers, web page designers, strategists, our treasurer, and more.

Shana Dahlin

Campaign Photographer

To paraphrase Coleridge, “Volunteers, volunteers everywhere… nor any drop to drink!” But Shana stands out among our volunteers! Shana writes “I am a proud member of the “purple posse.” She has worn so many hats as a campaign volunteer: photographer, cook, canvasser, and, most recently, tech consultant. Shana shares Celeste’s vision of a more vibrant, progressive Utica and is looking forward to another campaign season!

Nancy Ketz

Volunteer Coordinator

During the current campaign, Nancy has agreed to act in a new role as volunteer coordinator!

We know Nancy will bring the enthusiasm required to recruit and motivate individuals for the many roles needed in a grassroots campaign like ours.

Nancy taught high school French for 35 years, after which she subsequently retired from the Holland Patent Central School District. She remains active in retirement, as Volunteer Legislative Lead for AARP since 2006 and member of the AARP Speakers’ Bureau. She is past President of NYS Association of Foreign Language Teachers. Nancy continues to actively teach French. She is on the Board of Directors, Curriculum Committee, and instructor for Mohawk Valley Institute for Learning in Retirement (MVILR) since 2017.

Dr. Frank Sciacca

Campaign Treasurer

Frank is our Treasurer, filing all the required financial reports with the State of New York. (And I have to say, this is one of my favorite pictures of Frank.) With our grassroots campaign, he tracks all donations, and later this election season, will permit us to seek endorsement from Trailblazers PAC. “Trailblazers give voters the power to take back their rightful role in our democratic republic by moving politics out of the back room and onto the front porch.”

Dr. Sciacca earned a doctorate and master’s from Columbia University and joined the faculty of Hamilton College in 1984. He is the Christian A. Johnson Excellence in Teaching Associate Professor of German & Russian Languages & Literatures (retired) and has lectured extensively on Russian Orthodox iconography and East Slavic folklore. In his retirement, Frank is the consummate world traveler!

We are so happy that Frank has agreed to continue to volunteer as the Treasurer for our campaign.

Dennis Dewey

Dennis has worked with Celeste to create a number of videos on topics ranging from Early Voting to a new series promoting local businesses in the 3rd Ward. It is so much fun to have such a creative, capable videographer working with us to communicate with the people of South Utica.

Dennis moved to South Utica with his wife and children in 1987. He is a retired teacher (secondary English), pastor (Stone Church, Clinton) and international storyteller. He has been using his videography skills in retirement to spotlight Utica businesses and help with this campaign.

Andy Zygmunt

Campaign Manager

Andy Zygmunt is our Campaign Manager. Andy works at least as hard as Celeste does, and is deeply invested in creating a better political culture in Utica. Andy came to Utica in 1992 to take a position as a research scientist at Masonic Research Laboratory, a position from which he retired in 2011. When he isn't running campaigns, or taking care of cats Edwards and James, Andy enjoys bike touring. He has biked all the way across the country twice!
