Upcoming Meetings and Events

February 24 at 7 PM at Notre Dame Elementary at 11 Barton Ave.
South Utica’s Common Councilperson Celeste Friend is holding her first general Town Hall this Monday, February 24th. Newly elected in November of 2019, Friend hit the ground running, responding to the Halloween floods even before being sworn in on New Year’s Eve. She has spent the last three months meeting with Constituents and responding to their immediate needs, attending the South Utica Neighborhood Association meetings, and learning the basics of how the Common Council operates.

Friend explains her approach to politics and how this Town Hall supports it: “I ran on a platform of creating a more vibrant, engaged, and robust democracy here in Utica. That means taking the time, on the parts of both elected officials and residents, to talk to and listen to another. I am looking forward to hearing directly from my Constituents how together we can move Utica forward. For me, this is what democracy is all about.”

This Town Hall is open to the public. Residents of South Utica are especially encouraged to attend. The meeting will take place on Monday, February 24th from 7-9pm at the Notre Dame Elementary School at 11 Barton Ave. Refreshments will be provided, as well as time at the end of the meeting to socialize.
